Rules/laws about building kit cars (canada)?
Hi out there (I'm typing this for my husband).
What are the rules/laws (Canadian laws) about building your model/kit car in our back yard? Can I just put 10 different cars together to make 1? Can it be built and then run it through a regular "safety"??? Thank you!
you can do anything in your own backyard!!!
If you intend on using this car on the road, you will have to get engineering certification for all work done. You will have to prove none of the parts/components were stolen. You will then have to get road worthy certificates and hence registration.
If your husband has limited experience doing what you have described, i think you will find it very difficult to get approval to legally drive it on the roads. An engineer needs to certify the work (welding/fabrication/safety installs) that have been done, which means that he will become liable if anything were to happen while this car is on the road.
