Wood Ducks are the Birds That you Should be Looking for That Tasty Meal
For many waterfowl hunters the Wood Ducks are interesting game to try and bag. As these waterfowl have strict conservation laws it is a good idea to have a through knowledge about where you can hunt these wood ducks. The amount of birds you can hunt during the duck hunting season and if there are any ammo restrictions that you need to observe should also be known. These considerations should be found out and your hunting plans centered around them so that you can have an enjoyable hunt.
As with all types of game you will need to have a good idea of the living, feeding and territory these Wood Ducks can be found in. You should also be able to tell the difference between a male wood duck and a female wood duck. Also as the hunting season for these waterfowl may be in some places shorter than for the other varieties of ducks you will need to have the ability of distinguishing these ducks from their other cousins.
Now for the successful duck hunter the first step to bagging your quota of Wood Ducks is to be in a well camouflaged blind. You can call the ducks to you using greeting call or even the basic duck call. However as they can take alarm very quickly you will need to have your duck calls mastered properly before you attempt to lure the Wood Ducks with a duck caller.
Once you have gotten the ducks to a good shooting distance there are three commonly used shooting methods to harvest these wood ducks. You can use decoys, pass shooting and jump shooting. These three shooting methods can be done separately or they can be combined during the day’s hunting. With the decoy method you should try to use decoys that resemble the Wood Ducks as they are more drawn to these decoys than to the others.
To hunt these birds some duck hunters use a 20 Ga. Shotgun. These are loaded with about 5 to 6 rounds of bismuth. Unlike the other waterfowl the Wood Ducks are challenging birds to shoot. These ducks possess keen eyesight and a very strong and fast flying ability. For this reason the hunting of Wood Ducks is a challenge for any duck hunter to take.
While these Wood Ducks are active during the morning and evening they are more relaxed during the middle of the day. This means that you can have a session of pass hunting and decoy hunting in the morning and the evening times. For the midday hunt you will have the opportunity of jump hunting.
To gain the best quality of wood duck hunting you should avoid using a retrieving hunting dog. This very beautiful bird looks great mounted but they also taste quite deliciously excellent. For the waterfowl hunter who is looking for a challenging hunt that will yield a tasty meal or a great prize Wood Ducks are the birds that you should be looking for.

I have a wood stove on a brick hearth. I need 18" extended out front. What can i buy so its up to code?
I need at least 18" of non combustible material at the load doors to protect the wood flooring. What can I lay on top of the floor to stay with in code?
The walls are surrounded with brick and so is under the stove.....just who ever built the brick hearth didnt extend it out front far enough from the doors.
flat stones (like paving stones in a garden, the gaps filled in with concrete/mortar), marble, tile, or a sheet of stainless steel/iron. Just a few off the top of my head!
