It's a city that people from all over the world can get a feel of the fast paced exhilaration that is associated with it. Besides, the current economy of Atlantic City, it has a rich history that's sure to grab the attention of historical buffs.
Atlantic City's Rich History: How It Started and Grew To A Gambling American Icon
The Lenni-Lenape Indian tribe, who would stay during the summer months, first occupied this region. However, Englishman Thomas Budd came to the region and was handed the Absecon Island region for a settlement. Over the course of the next 100 years, both Indians and hunters settled in the region to take in its beauty and large quantity of resources.
In 1754, a settler by the name of Jeremiah Leeds erected the first stable structure (the structure Leeds built is still standing on the corners of Arctic Avenue and Arkansas) Not long afterwards, a railroad system was introduced and large ships were making it into the harbor and port.
Demand for homes and hotels grew exponentially and following on their heels were elegant restaurants. For that reason, all the transportation systems were polished and tinier, less busy towns were constructed around the Atlantic City area, offering those people who wanted an escape an out without leaving the area entirely.
In the year 1870, engineers constructed the first Boardwalk, which was just eight feet wide. However, the boardwalk was destroyed by an 1889 enormous hurricane, which left Atlantic City dealing with at least six feet of water. It was replaced with a new 60-foot wide Boardwalk that helped the town thrive once more.
By the turn of the 20th century, more than 27,000 people had congregated to Atlantic City and the numbers kept growing. Large corporations, docks and other structures amounted to over 6,500 buildings. Entertainment was offered and people worldwide crept their way to the city.
Atlantic City held the first-ever Miss America pageant, which began in 1921, Vaudeville appeared on many of the dock stages and before long, Atlantic City was glowing like a newly polished diamond. By the time the county's 200th birthday (1976) rolled around, Atlantic City was considered a gambling Mecca. People looking for some gambling, entertainment and history come to enjoy what the city has to offer. In fact, people can still see many of the old structures, gamble into the sun comes up and experience all the excitement the town has had to offer over the past 200 years.

How does the North Atlantic Drift current and prevailing westerlies affect the climate of Western Europe?
The North Atlantic Drift is the continuation of the warm Gulf Stream Current and westerlies blowing over it are warmed thus moderating the climate of Western Europe. In other words, it is warmer than other places at the same latitude.
