|
Fasttrack plumbing Course ? Any good ?
Thinking of training as a plumber cant get a job as a plumbers mate no local plumber wants to train me up. Must have sent out a hundred letters and only had three replies, with no joy.
Thinking of trying a fast track course around 8wks at a cost of around 6k has anybody had any experience with these.

they both look good, i know its not as good as training along side a fully qualified plumber doing actual work but that's an option i don't have. Would love to hear from someone who has completed a similar course.
Be very dubious, shop about i looked into it myself and i saw on that was accredited for less than 6k. Make sure you end up with an NVQ qualification at the end. These courses will teach you the basics nothing else but as you only want to go in as mate level i firmly believe it will be worth its weight in gold. Make sure you get accredited training agency though and at the end you will have an internationally recognised qualification. Don't believe the hype in the blurb saying that once you finish the course you will be able to start your own business or indeed be able to go on site and do first or second fix. You will however have a powerful bargaining tool to approach your local employers as you will not be green behind the ears. Also the most important thing in my opinion is you will have shown willingness to learn the trade by spending your own time and money, so the employer will know your not a flash in the pan.
