thermo quad problem idle?
I ve got an 12 ton with a 360 727 4 bbl combo. I cant get the motor to idle at less than 2500 rpm or so, the idel mix screw dosent help, the timing is close. Is there a coman fix for this problem that dosent invalve a new carb? What outher adjustment shuld i try
there's 4 different settings on that carburetor,you have to bring the idle down on the idle shaft first then adjust it at the mixture screws,if you don't you,ll never get that one to run right,we had a wrecker that had that set up on it,and the newer thermo-quads are really hard to get right,then you have to set the idle speed on the high speed cam for the choke also,all together there's too many things to adjust,and if you get one out it can make you try and adjust the wrong thing,first id get it down on the main idle screw and try to lean it out some,then go from there with it,you can get it right ,but it takes time,good luck.
