Best way to get to East Village, New York from Grand Central?
i live in the suburbs outside new york city and im planning a day to the city and really would like to go to Saint's alp teahouse in east village, and im taking the train from where i live to grand central. I dont know the city very well unfortunately so i was wondering what would be the best route there. thanks
Way easy.
Take the green line - # 4, 5, or 6 train downtown to 14th St. The 6 train will also take you a little closer by dropping you off at Astor Place (8th St.) St. Alps is between 9th & 10 Sts.
When you get off at the Astor Place station you will see the signs on one sign of the street say "8th St. and others say "St. Mark's Place". It's all the same road, believe it or not. You'll know you're in the right place when you see the huge dark cube balanced on it's edge in the middle of the street.
Walk towards St. Mark's Place (If you see Broadway, turn around and walk the opposite way) until you reach 3rd Avenue - about 2 blocks away. (Look for falafel place, McDonald's and the "5 Shots for $10" bar). Cross 3rd Avenue and make a right. Walk up past 9th St and you'll see little St. Alps on the right side of the street.
Have fun. The East Village is one of my favorite neighborhoods.
