Good trucks & wheels to go with my skateboard under 40 bucks?
I need a skateboard to get me to my bus stop next year, and I'll be learning how to use one over the summer. I will not be doing tricks, so don't worry about the deck. For the bearings I've decided on Bone Reds.
I'll be skating on a street, and it's very bumpy. I'd like something that won't let me tip over =P
For my trucks, I want something light and not too sensitive.
Bones Reds are a fine choice of bearings. As for skate wheels and trucks that are good and not too expensive and good. I would look for price point trucks online. You want to match the width of your trucks to the width of your deck. Match your truck side to your deck size.
4.75 for up to 7.5" wide decks
5.0 for up to 7.75" wide decks
5.25 for up to 8.125" wide decks
For 8.25" and up, you can use 5.25 trucks, or use super wide trucks (like the Independent 169mm)
You'll want your trucks to be within 1/4" of the size of the deck.
Essential trucks are good but on the cheap.
Cargo Trucks are also pretty good but also on the cheap.
Speed Demons are more well known brand and have some decent price point options.
As for Wheels I would keep an eye out for larger size wheels as they roll over debris much nicer. Maybe a softer wheel as well too. Wheels are sized in millimeter diameters. Their hardness is mesured in durometer on the A-scale, with 74A being a very soft wheel and 95A being a very hard wheel. The hardness of a wheel will affect its durability, shock absorption and ability to grip an indoor or outdoor skating surface.
