“Earn the right to own the best engine in town”: Jeep Cherokee and Mercedes engine

When I was a kid I grew up believing that if you had a Mercedes Benz you had moved up in the world. It usually belonged to those lawyers, doctors, business men, and corporate executives that you dreamed of becoming. My parents did not buy one even though my mom was a doctor and my father a lawyer. My dad said that a Mercedes engine was of excellent quality but it drains your bank book as spare parts cost an awful lot of money.

Another scenario in which one would have had a Benz would have been their parents were rich and could afford to buy it for them even if they had not earned the right to drive one. I think the second scenario hit my friend Charlie harder than it should have. His father was from Spain and when Charlie was younger his family rubbed elbows with Spanish dignitaries and the like. Bad business decisions however affected the lifestyle of Charlie’s family somewhat but not enough to not to be able to still hang out with that crowd. When he turned 21 his dad released his and his sibling’s inheritance to them. They had a family car but he did not have one of his own. Wonder of wonders he and his brother chipped in and bought a used Mercedes Benz class C. I rolled my eyeballs when I saw it because it being a used car it had a used Mercedes engine. It did not matter that the seats were leather, steering was a breeze, and people looked at you differently when you were in it. Not to mention that for a car its age, the Mercedes engine is still quieter than most new model cars. And although the practical side of me flinched at them having bought this used car, you have to admit a Mercedes engine whispers to you and convinces you.

My first concern was that those engine parts were going to start breaking down soon. It was a couple of years old and although it looked great the engine had those soft, watch out there might be trouble soon noises. Mercedes engine are precision equipment and spare parts are costly not to mention not readily available. If those parts start to breakdown one after the other it could take quite some time before a part is delivered and hence the car would not be usable for days or weeks at a time. Charlie and his younger brother however had a plan and it included a company selling used car engines. I said “If one part is costly how can an engine be cheaper?” And if one part takes some time to get a hold of how much more time would a whole Mercedes engine? He patiently explained that it would in the long run that the cost would be less because it is more costly to replace the engine piece by piece. So if parts kept breaking down one after the other, the cost of those parts plus recurring costs for labor would total more than having the whole engine replaced and just one labor fee. Next, used car engine companies have numerous stocks of engines plus a very wide network that works together to provide the needed machines.  Finding a complete Mercedes engine might ultimately be easier than looking for a particular piece.

Charlie’s story is quite similar to those people that may have inherited an old vehicle. Time does take a toll on some cars and every car will need some tender, loving, care. While the Mercedes has a great reputation for their precision you can think about alternate car brands, such as the Jeep Cherokee Engine. The Jeep Cherokee engine is known for to be sturdy and long-lasting. Someone around the world from Charlie may want to also consider replacing their Jeep Cherokee engine. You see this is what is what the ease of the internet can do for you. You can shop all around the world. Whether you are looking for Mercedes engine or a Jeep Cherokee engine; you can find a whole spectrum of used car engines online at used car engine dealers.

Panhead, Knucklehead, ShovelHead, Evolution, TC88 Bighead,,,,whats the best motor HD ever put out and why?

I presently have a 95 Evo 1340...Andrews EV27 cam...seems to pull in all gears with this mild cam. with a 2 into 1 thunderheader pipes. Hurting the engine when I pull it hard? I only move it when it gets mighty warm...we ride almost all year long out here in SoCal, so our bikes see lots of miles a year. no need for winter storage, other than battery tender and regualr oil changes and fluid changes, what else can i do to ensure long life? thanks in advance and ride safe!

I'd say the Evo, the TC has that funky cam chain tensioner issue.
I don't think any of Harley's other motors come close to the miles an Evo will run unopened,
To ensure long life, Proper Oil and intervals, oil cooler and proper fuel/air ratio to keep it running cool.
