Call the DVLA straight away. You know what the government are like with paper work and things not being right. If you're in an accident and someone looks at ytour car and sees documents that are wrong, you could land up in trouble. Any altreratons to your car, report it. When I converted my car to run on LPG, by law I had to inform the DVLA and have my log booked altered. Changing fuel is obviously different to how firm your roof is, but is it worth the risk of a fine? It would then solve the question too seeing as the DVLA has all car info on record!
