How can I keep a very strong toddler from climbing on the kitchen counter?
We have three toddler boys running around and cannot keep eyes on each one twenty four seven, especially when we are potty training and have one in the bathroom. The youngest is almost two and is constantly climbing on the counter tops and getting into things, is there anything that we can do to the counter to block it off that is strong enough to hold against him? He is able to scale the cabinets somehow to get up there, yesterday he was sitting in the kitchen sink!!! We are just at a loss on how to keep him off. We cant block off the kitchen because of the weird layout, so we have to focus on the counters.........PLEASE HELP!
you could be consitent and re enforce the "NO" rule each and every single time you catch or find him on the counter.but obviously the way you are doing it is not working....so u need to find a different approach. my daughter(3) does this and i am going thru the same thing at the moment. boys are not anymore monkeys than girls...(i have 1 boy and 3 girls)
my girl has been doin this for quite some time but it is not a definate NO rule in my home.....she must ask and i must be close by- altho she doesnt always comply..........
one thing you could try is setting yourself up in a comfortaable position to give him a little shake/push.....something to make him loose his balance but where you are in the position to catch him...
give him the sensation of falling...and do it several times...put a little scare into him.....
otherwise i say..no matter how busy you are...i dont believe in removing or blocking furniture and 'things'/......i think they should just learn. if you be consitant for an amount if time you have it made.

in 9 months i will have 3 toddlers-3 and under....i am in no way an expert- but also dont make excuses as to ages, busy-ness, toilet training etc.. re-adjust your routines, make sure the 2 yr old is shut in the bathroom with you when u in with training one, make sure he has something to keep him occupied in another way....time outs for disobeying, loose toys, naughty corner......you have many options....but you have to see them
