Types of Dollhouse Kits to Explore

Styles Of Dollhouses

Victorian - These multistory homes of yesteryear come alive in miniature form when a dollhouse kit is put together. Features that make Victorian styling stand out with little girls and collectors include front porches, picture windows, unusual roofing styles and lots of gingerbread.
Tudor - Just like the big versions, miniature Tudor designs also have their fair share of gingerbread. Dollhouses of this style will include wooden beam designs on the outside of a home, decorative shingle roofing, leaded-glass style windows and more. Tudor styles can range from small "cottages" to expansive manors.
Saltboxes - These barn-style homes were once very popular designs. With their unusual roofing structure that makes them look like old-fashion saltboxes, these houses can be found in kit form.
Colonial - Two-story colonial designs have been popular in America since its inception. Simplistic, but stunning, this style of housing is readily available in kit form.
Lighthouses - Collectors with a passion for things nautical will find lighthouse kits are also available for easy assembly. They, of course, include interior space for living.
Building a dollhouse from the ground up can be a rather intimidating prospect. When a more simplistic way to build is desired, kits can make all the difference. Once constructed, wood-based kits can be customized with a number of finishing touches, including stain, paint, shingles and more, which means even a kit can be unique in the long run.

we are going to buy a kit from menards to build a house and i needed some advice?
we were looking at this kit that was around $86,000. we already have the land to build on so we aren't worried about that. i was just wondering if anyone knew how much labor would be approximately? is it based on the square foot? someone told me its between $90-$120 a square foot? this house is about 2,100 square foot..so can anyone help?
Unless Menard's is doing something different in your locale than they are in mine, you are getting several truckloads of material, with NOTHING pre-assembled. The materials are only a part of your cost. Don't forget to add a foundation, driveway and all those other things which are not included in that package price.
Also be aware that these kits are 'teaser prices', and that just about everything included in them is bottom quality, including roofing, windows, trims, cabinets, etc.
