I was reading that people want med students to use plastic models instead of cadavers for training.?
Does anyone else think this is insane?
Absolutely. Plastic models might retain a semblance of the form, but they're terrible when it comes to the content of the human body. I could see the use of plastic models for learning general procedure and attitude when it comes to working around patents, but eliminating cadaver study really seems like a step backward. Also, I like the idea of having actors play patients with various illnesses, because it adds an intangible aspect to the training.
