The original steam engine car was introduced in 1912. At first it sold much better than a gas car. At this moment, no major car manufacturers have a steam engine option in production. With gas and hybrid vehicles leading the way in the market, there is no room for an idea that has not yet been taken to its maximum potential. Consumers are being pickier with their automotive purchases in regards to the environment. Fuel alternatives must be worth the investment.
One benefit of the steam engine is that it is able to run off of the heat given off by any combustible material. This means that it has more than one possible fuel source. Vehicles that can run on more than one type of fuel are a hot item. It's like having the best of both worlds in one efficient package.
The British has recently been working hard on a steam powered car that they believe is another step toward the future. They plan to bring it to the United States in order to break a world record. As more people in various countries do their part to advance scientific study on steam engines, as well as other realistic options, the faster the world will be able to turn away from petroleum and diesel fuels.
