Is this a good way to pour concrete into a hole to set a fence post?
We poured the dry concrete mix into the hole about halfway and then added water, we waited a few moments and then added more concrete mix and then some more water again. I have hard red clay in my area. Our holes were dug two feet. The lower half of the hole was packed with the red hard clay and then the upper half(about one foot) was all concrete. The concrete may have been more.
Is this a good way to set a post? Please state why or why not.
We did not mix the concrete and water after pouring the water onto the concrete. I was told the concrete mix would pull the water to the bottom and everything would be fine. Nor did we tamp down the concrete mix.
It's been over 24 hours and I checked the posts. There is only a tiny bit of wobble and in some cases I can move the ground around the post if I push and pull hard enough. Is this normal?
Is there any way I can prevent leaning at this point?
I would say no, it isn't a good way because you didn't say if you mixed the concrete and water.
