Which country first started the African Slave trade on a "Grand Scale"?
and which area of the world did they send them too?
how long this went on?
and which OTHER countries participated?
please explain
thanks for your answers!
The British were very much (deeply) involved with the African Slave Trade from the 17thC onwards. Indeed, Sir Francis Drake was buying slaves along the West African coast and selling them in the West Indies and then going on to attack Spanish treasure ships in the Gulf of Mexico etc.
Oliver Cromwell had two slave ships built at Debtford, a mere stone's throw from where I'm sitting right now.
This next link I found by chance, it contains an actual account from a Royal Navy (log or diary) of the African Slave trade in about c1757 or thereabouts.

and, it was not just 'black' slaves either, because Oliver Cromwell forced thousands of Irish into the slave-trade as slaves.

Well, mainly these Irish were probably forced to become overseers of the slaves, rather than actual slaves.
