Woodworking Hand Tools - Select the Right Carpentry Tools
Carpentry hand tools are a necessity if you are thinking about getting into woodworking. If I switch a right handed electric guitar to left, do I need to change the nut?
Or can I get away with just reversing the strings? Will it effect anything else on the guitar (I realize the tone/volume controls will be in a different place, but will it have a bad effect on anything else?)
It's really a bad thing to do. If it has a cutaway then the cutaway will be on the wrong side. The line jack will be in an uncomfortable position on the top and your arm might be hitting it. You will need to switch the nut around. If the saddle is compensated that will have to be switched as well. The controls for tone and volume, etc., will all be on the wrong side and difficult to get to.
Either buy a lefty guitar or, like lots of lefties, learn to play righty.
