Model steam trains and how they ranked If
When it comes to model Steam Locomotive steam trains eclipse Modern diesel-electric locomotive. The vision of a roaring rails 4-8-8-4 Big Chico gives an idea of the massive power of the engine is capable of producing. This power impressive is transferred to matter miniature railway. Although most models are powered by an electric motor of the locomotive steam always appears as a powerful locomotive. In model trains you can find or scratch build a steam locomotive ever built. Now let see how these locomotives were named and how the engines are ordered steam.
A system for classifying steam locomotives came into existence in the twentieth century. This classification system was introduced by Frederick Whyte Mathvan. Wythe classification was followed by the main wheels by the number of driving wheels, followed by the end wheels with hyphens. Between (eg 2-4-2) This is a list of non-articulated locomotive:
- Northumbria 0-2-2
- Metro 2-2-0
- 2-2-2 individual Lind, Jenny
- 2-2-4, 4-2-0 Jervis
- 4-2 2-Bike
- Crampton 6-2-0
- Four 0-0-4-0 coupling
- 0-4-2, 0-4-4 Forney
- Porter 2-4-0, Old English
- 2-4-2 Colombia
- 2-4-4, 4-4-0 in America, eight-wheeled
- Atlantic 4-4-2, 4-4-4 Reading Jubilee (Canada)
- 0-3-0
- Six coupling 0-6-0, Bourbonnais (France)
- 0-6-0 USRA (United States)
- 0-6-2

- 4-8-4 Niagara North Confederation Dixie, Greenbrier, Pocono, Potomac, Golden State, Western, General, Wyoming (Lehigh Valley), the Governor, title = "Central Georgia" Big Apple> title = "GS Southern Pacific class-4"> GS Series "Daylight" (South Pacific)
- 6-8-6 ( title = "PRR S2> S2 PRR steam turbine locomotive)
- Ten 0-10-0 coupling (rarely) decapod
- 0-10-2 Union
- 2-10-0 decapod, decapod Russia
- 2-10-2 Santa Fe, Central, decapods (only in the South Pacific)
- 2-10-4 Texas, Colorado (CB & Q), Selkirk (Canada)

- Centipede 2-12-0, 2-12-2 javanica
- 2-12-4, 4-12-2 Union Pacific
- AA20 4-14-4
So you can see that these non-articulated locomotive can probably find one that will run on your design. However, not all locomotives steam. We will then articulated locomotives.
Now look at the monster engine size more or even called articulated locomotives. These locomotives were built in different classifications. This is a list of locomotives:
- Bavarian BB II 0-4-4-0
- 2-4-4-0
- 0-4-4-2
- 2-4-4-2
- Erie 0-6-6-0
- Salt Lake and Denver 2-6-6-2
- Norfolk & Western 2-6-6-4
- 2-6-6-6 Allegheny, Blue Ridge
- 4-6-6-2 (South Pacific class MM-2)
- 4-6-6-4 Challenger
- 2-6-8-0 (Great Southern Railroad Railway North)
- Angus 0-8-8-0
- 2-8-8-0 Bull Moose
- Chesapeake 2-8-8-2
- Yellowstone 2-8-8-4
- Southern Pacific 4-8-8-2 class cab
- 4-8-8-4 Big Boy
- 2-10-10-2 (Santa Fe railroads of Virginia)
- 2-8-8-8-2 Triplex (Erie RR)
- Triplex 2-8-8-8-4 (Virginia RR), Garratt articulated locomotives
- 0-4-0 +0-4-0
- 2-6-2 +2-6-2
Some these locomotives are very long. Therefore, if you will use in your design, remember that you can not make a curve with small radius. You In need of a long sweeping curves of the engine to run properly.
