Pier 1 Imports Reports A Widened Loss, Mesa Air Group Reports First Profitable Quarter, And Purespectrum Is A Pure Pump

Although Pure Spectrum ticker symbol: PSPM.PK has a great technology and the fact world is moving into various florescent, compact fluorescent, and high intensity discharge lighting products doesn't justify it's recent chart move. But we will tell you what does. In their most recent press article Pure Spectrum announced that they've received their first round of funding from the Emirates International Capital Advisory. We expect the selling to begin here as they begin to sell their shares openly and short the stock. It would be smart to research and see if the shares are restricted and for how long first before shorting a pink sheet like this one. Looks like the board of directors are professional stock handlers by the looks of this chart. Further due diligence would go a long way here.

Dec. 18, 2008 was a tough day for Pier 1 Imports ticker symbol: PIR as they reported a widened loss for the quarter and were sent a letter from the NYSE of possible de-listment. Since then they've announced news to cut their cost structure by closing a distribution center, cut jobs, and just recently said they plan to close 125 stores. They currently have $1.31 per share and about $1.91 of book value. Chance of catching this one early to be back above a $1 in the near term if anticipators move positively with the company recent plan to restructure.

MESA Air Group Inc. ticker symbol: MESA a $2 million dollar company traded almost it's entire market cap today in dollar volume. They reported earlier this morning that they have finally swung to a first quarter profit of $15 million dollars. The company has been in a complete decline since it's high in 1993 but more importantly possibly bottoming out from a severe decline in April and December of 2008. They also announced a couple days ago that they will be canceling an agreement on some senior notes and look to have set a very long term agreement on new senior notes due in 2024. Possible short squeeze in the works to keep on watch.

On Dec. 2 Citadel Broadcasting Corporation ticker symbol: CDL received a letter from the NYSE stating that they have been trading for 30 consecutive days under a market cap minimumof $75 million. Citadel filed a compliance plan letter to the NYSE and now are just awaiting approval. If the NYSE approves we could see a major bounce in Citadel just off the news. If not however, the downside may still be limited as the company trades way below book value and right near its cash per share.
