Self Improvement: The Path For Boosting Happiness
The man whose energies (i.e. thoughts) are dissipated lacks peace and cannot achieve significant progress in life. On the other hand, the man who can maintain a state of inner tranquility in all his actions and has acquired mental tenacity (by practice), to fix his attention on any specific problem and can hold the mind to that problem till it is resolved, is superior. Such a person can achieve anything on which he sets his mind. This is one of the important qualities of winners and leaders in any field. We can develop this quality by practicing meditation.
Many of us have wrong notions on meditation and presume that it is meant for sages & saints who renounce worldly activities and retire to remote places. In meditation a person temporarily distances himself from distractions, but it is with the specific objective of developing strong intellect and to train the mind. It is also a power tool in coping with stress in everyday life.
The preparation: Before a plane is allowed to take off, every part is thoroughly checked to ensure whether it is in a fit condition to fly and is air-worthy. This is done to avoid any trouble en route. Similarly, before embarking on meditation, one should ensure that there is adequate pre-meditative preparation. These include:-
(a) Inner self is not tired and agitated condition (e.g. anger, frustration, resentment etc. dominate thinking).
(b) The mind is free from worldly entanglements and pre-occupations (suppose you try to meditate by sitting in a closed room, but find that there is incessant urge within you to watch favorite T.V. serial going on or there is some quarrel in the neighborhood and you want to know what is happening there). In case the mind is preoccupied with such situations, better terminate meditation.
(c) The mind is free from desire-driven thinking at least during 15-20 minutes of meditation. Few examples make the point clear. Suppose you sit in meditative posture and try had to concentrate either on God or some noble thought but find that your mind is constantly slipping into thinking about your new venture in business or the prospects of promotion in office.
It is natural to encounter such distractions in the beginning. One has to train himself to fix his attention on the thought/idea, God etc. chosen for meditation. Breathing exercises, inspiring thoughts or simple words like 'peace', 'tranquility' etc., can be used as stepping stones in the path. The guiding principle could be: If the distractions are (1-2) in a span of three minutes, one may ignore and concentrate on meditation; in case the distractions are too frequent, i.e. 4-10 in about three minutes, terminate the meditation.

Can someone help to suggest a good mountain bike?
Thanks in advance for answering. I am a Munro bagger and I am looking for a mountain bike to allow me to access some of Scotland`s more remote Munros. The requirements are as follows:-
It has to be able to withstand up to 20 Kms of track and path in each direction,
It has to have enough gears to be easily ridden up hilly paths, and down obviously
It will be getting tied to trees and hidden in the heather whilst I climb the mountian, so it has to easy to immobilise,
It has to fit onto a current shape Nissan Micra.
Should I go for new or secondhand?
