Guide: Computer Repair via Remote Assistance
Some small computer tasks are important to you but not so important that you are willing to be charged a full visit to have them completed. Remote Assistance is a great way to receive remote service from a computer repair shop at a much lower rate than their on-site charge. Be careful who you trust to control your computer though. They will be able to manipulate your computer and the files on it. Do not let anyone you do not completely trust control your computer!
This article will serve as a "How-to" for using the Windows Remote Assistance tool to allow someone else to access and control your computer remotely.
Before we begin, regardless of your operating system, you will need to perform the following task to enable Remote Assistance:
1. Click on the START MENU.
2. Click on CONTROL PANEL.
3. Click on SYSTEM.
4. In Windows XP, click the Remote tab and click the two checkboxes. In Windows Vista, click Remote Settings on the left hand side and click the checkbox.
Now I will explain the procedure to send someone an invitation through Windows XP and then through Windows Vista:
WINDOWS XP PROCEDURE:
1. Click Start Menu.
2. Click HELP AND SUPPORT.
3. Click on "Invite a friend to connect to your computer with Remote Assistance."
4. Click on "Invite someone to help you."
5. Click on "Save invitation as a file (Advanced)."
6. Fill in your name and then set how long you will want the invitation to remain active. I suggest at least 3 hours. Click Continue.
7. Require a password to be used by the remote support agent you are connecting with.
8. Click on "Save Invitation" and save it on your desktop or in My Documents so that you can easily find it.
Now all you have to do is send the invitation file you saved to the computer repair specialist via e-mail and provide them with the password you used. When they are ready to begin, you will receive a prompt asking you if you are ready to continue. Click yes and you're good to go!
WINDOWS VISTA PROCEDURE:
1. Click Start Menu.
2. Click HELP AND SUPPORT.
3. Click "Use -> Windows Remote Assistance to get help from a friend or offer help."
4. Click "Invite someone you trust to help you."
5. Click "Save this invitation as a file."
6. In the "Path and file name" field, browse to save the file on your Desktop or in My Documents where you can easily find it. Afterwards, set a password that you will share with the pc repair specialist.
7. A window will now appear for the Remote Assistance Application. Do NOT close this window. When the specialist is ready to proceed, you will receive a prompt!

What are most likely causes for Electric Driveway gate (Chamberlain Elite ) to close and open continuously ?
Problems with driveway gate control , it want to close but about halfway it move backs and does not close all the way. It repeat the open and close cycle non-stop.
There is no obstruction on the path of gate. No Error lights indicate problems. There was suggestion that perphaps someone living in the community happen to have a defective Remote that either is continuing being stuck or malfunction may cause the Gate to open and close.
If that is the case, what is the easy way to determine or identify the defective remote ?
You need to adjust the reversing switch. It keeps the gate from crushing things by reversing. It is set to sensitive.
