What is a Truck or Dump Body?
The truck/dump body is the cover of metal which fits on the base frame of a truck. This allows an individual to load a wide variety of tools or materials onto the truck and provides a simple method of transporting them.
Truck and dump bodies are all hydraulically operated nowadays, but there are a number of pneumatics operated bodies available if the situation arises. The hydraulic system has to be started in order to dump the unwanted material from the vehicle. Included in the hydraulic system is the cylinder, pump, and piston unit. A pneumatic system doesn't use a pump like the hydraulic system; instead it is powered by an air compressor. With the help of each system, the truck can be unloaded by lifting the front part. Next, the body returns to its original position.
There are various shapes and materials of truck/dump bodies available. Truck bodies are shaped based on the type of material that the truck will be carrying.
If the size of the regularly transported equipment is big, the truck body must be designed to adapt to such material. You can use a body made for universal applications if the truck will be transporting general purpose goods.
There is a limit on the capacity that each truck can carry. It increases the odds of the chassis breaking if a load is more than what the vehicle is designed to carry. The vehicle body will need to be sufficiently strong in order to bear the loads for which the chassis was intended. It is imperative that the truck body has the correct materials and dimensions.
Frequently used truck and dump bodies include:
(1) Asphalt dump body: These dumpers are specifically shaped for the transportation of asphalt. These dumper bodies not only have the ability to haul a heavy load, but they also must tolerate heat. Asphalt dump bodies are designed with round edges to facilitate the smooth flow of the substance; these vehicles generally use a hydraulic system.
(2) High lift tail gates: These hydraulic system bodies are meant for the transportation of construction and relevant materials.
(3) Conveyors and high lift installation bodies: It is frequently necessary for loads to be lifted to higher levels at various places in the city. When this happens, the bodies will come with a high rising lift and conveyors. These types of bodies with different configurations are needed by roofing industry professionals.
Different configurations of truck bodies are available through various outlets. You can purchase truck or dump bodies directly from either the chassis manufacturer or from an external after-market producer. After market manufacturers generally supply more efficient bodies, as their custom made bodies can be designed to fit both your specific requirements and budget.

Why do dump truck drivers tend to drive so aggressively?
I don't like to generalize or stereotype, but it seems like the majority of the dump trucks I see on the road are operated by drivers who think they are big sports cars. They drive too fast, tailgate cars, and change lanes rapidly and often. I don't notice this quite so often with other types of trucks and it gets very aggravating when the truck is peppering your car with stones and not allowing you to pass. One time I was even in a situation where 2 dump trucks pulled next to each other on a 2-lane road and hit the brakes, blocking traffic. I could see the drivers laughing to each other through the windows. Do dump trucks attract a certain sort of person to drive them? Is this just in New Jersey?
no it is not just in jersey. here in detroit its the same. i work for a trucking company of about 150 trucks all are dump. they are just a certain breed. they think they own the road and think they always have the right of way. always in a hurry. there are not to many real truck drivers now a days, just a bunch of kids out there hot doggin them trucks.and thats why i myself have seen a few co workers die because of the way they drive.
