what is open-end-disbursement?
hello, i opened a savings acct. w/ the associated credit union. and i wanted a loan to buy a car. but they couldnt give me the loan because i dont have any credit. i did the open-end-disbursement thing. i gave them $500.00 and they cut me a check (loan $500.00) and i have to pay $25.72 a mth for 20 months, did i get play. or what. this mean that i didnt really get a loan i got my money that i deposit. and now. i have to pay it back. making look like a loan. help. thanx......
Basically what they did is give you a loan with your own money as collateral. They have your money tied up ina stock somewhere making money off of it while they also collect your interest for the loan.
It call it being played, but it is no different than putting the money in a savings account that draws 1% interest while the bank makes 20% somewhere else.
You can't really get around this type of screwing unless you have $1000 that you can put into a cd. They will still use your money, but when the contract is up they have to give it back plus interest.
I would say that what you did is standard practice for credit unions. The will use the entire situation to give you credit.
