Curious Cake question. Involves fondant & modeling chocolate.?
Hi,
I have a few questions about a holiday cake. Well my plan is to cover a 10 inch round in fondant (3 layers) and I was wondering if you could use modeling chocolate 9white chocolate) instead, or is modeling chocolate not thin enough? Next I plant on making 3-D snowmen, What should I make those out of, (they will be about 2-3 inches tall). Finally What are ways to make my cake look more professional? Should I add some fondant pine trees? Or are they a little much.
Just so you know my plan was to make 1 snowman in the center of the cake, and then a forest of pine trees around him. I plant on making fondant presents and little details. Also I was considering doing small 3-D snowmen around the cake an possibly some snow-balls.
Thanks Everyone!
Snowman that are really cute and easy and tasty:

Or you can use rice crispy treats and make snowman. Or you can use those coconut balls or make mini cupcakes and use white icing and coconut. You can also use cookies and cover them in the melting chocolate and then decorate.
As for the icing I would not use modeling chocolate it is not thin enough. For your trees, snowman you can make out of modeling chocolate and then you can use a variety of colors and molds. I think maybe one tree decorate for Christmas with a couple of snowman would be cute and then write Merry Christmas at the top.
