Thyroid Disorders 101
The thyroid is one of the largest and most important of the endocrine glands in the body. Part of the endocrine system, the thyroid is responsible for producing hormones which are necessary for the regulation of metabolism and growth, and other bodily functions. The thyroid gland is found in the neck. If it malfunctions, aside from medical treatments, are there alternative treatments for thyroid disorders?
Not all people understand how important the thyroid is in the body. People have no idea how serious the effects of a thyroid disorder can be. Here are some basic facts that everyone should know about the thyroid:
· The thyroid has control functions
The thyroid produces the hormones necessary for control of many functions in the body. Known as thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), these hormones regulate the rate of metabolism and affect the growth and rate of function of many other systems in the body.
· The thyroid can malfunction in two ways
There are two known ways in which the thyroid malfunctions: over activity and under activity. With respect to the first one, there is an excess in production of the hormones. The condition is called hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid). Since the hormones produced by the thyroid affects every part of the body, over production of the hormones will affect many parts. It can cause palpitations and anxiety attacks.
Inversely, the lack or minimal production of thyroxine is called hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid). The low production of the hormones causes muscle hypotonia, depression, cramps, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Goitre.
· There are natural remedies available
The good news is that there is a natural cure for thyroid disorders. Avoiding foods that contain substances that affect the functioning of the thyroid are among these remedies. There are foods that contain anti-thyroid substances and can affect the way it functions later on in life.
Herbal therapy is also another option. Irish moss, walnut and ginseng are just few of nature's natural healing agents to help with the disorder.

Fantasy Football Help, Keeper League.?
Hey, looking for an outside opionion because I tend to get tunnel vision with my teams. This is the second year of a full team 12 man keeper league. My team scored the second highest points, but I still have no faith in my TE's or Branch. I am #2 in the upcoming Waiver Wire.
My team:
QB's- Brady, Cutler
RB's-Portis, Betts, Benson, T.Jones, L.Jordan, Lionel Washington
WR's-P.Burres, TJ Housh, Deion Branch, V.Jackson
TE's-LJ Smith, Owen Daniels
D-Ravens, Kicker-Gould...
Availible: R.Curry WR, Ward (Giants RB), E.Johnson (TE), M.Pollard (TE), M.Lewis(TE) I have always liked Lewis and could potentially have him for awhile.
Should I pull the trigger on one of the above? Do you think Johnson will continue to get so many looks? Last year, NO never threw to the TE. Any opinions? Last year Chris Baker had over 100 yards and 2 TD's in week one. So, am I pondering a move that I don't really need to make?
Your TEs are decent, I would call them High End number 2's right now. However, no matter where you have holes on your team, I would definitely pick up Curry. He has been teasing fantasy players for years now, and finally with a decent coach, could explode this year. Week 1 was no fluke, Curry is for real. Picking up Curry could give you great options for trading for a great TE or any other position. I don't know how many RBs and WRs you start in your league, but if it is 3 WRs, pick up curry and look to trade either branch, jackson, curry, and maybe one of your RBs (any combo of these) for something amazing that could put your team over the top. You have 4 solid (although no studs) RBs in Portis, Benson, Jones, and Jordan. 2 Great WRs and a stud QB. With all this depth, you could get at least another WR and a decent TE if you trade owen daniels too.
In conclusion, this is my advice.
Drop either owen daniels, LJ smith, Leon (Lionel??) Washington, or vincent Jackson for Curry. I would choose Washington. Work up some type of trade possibly involving Lamont Jordan (ride him while his stock is super high), any of your 3 lower WRs, and a TE for a great TE and a great WR or anything like that. You should have no problem finding this trade and vastly improving your team.
