Ground Cover For Swing Sets and Playgrounds
If you have an existing swing set that does not have ground cover you should consider this option for safe play. There are many options available today and most are outlined in your owners manual that was part of your swing set package. What's good to use as flooring (or ground cover) for an outdoor dog pen?
We have three dogs (2 large, 1 small) that have indoor/outdoor access to a decent size outdoor pen. They are digging huge holes in the pen, under the fence (or near the edge of the fence) AND at the foundation of the house. If we can't get them to stop digging, would gravel be a wise choose of ground cover to use or is there something better?
They dig when they are bored, but once they start, it is hard to break the habit. I would not use gravel...the pads on their feet will get sore. Cement will work, or you can use wood planking, but you will have to seal it really well. Cement will clean up much easier. I would give them some place soft to lay on though. You can just pour cement at the fence line and leave the centre dirt...that might work...just give them a soft area to lay on instead of the cement...a piece of indoor/outdoor carpeting that can be hosed off like the cement, and some toys to play with.
