Can a Green Tree Frog be housed in the same terrarium as a red eyed tree frog?
I'm planning on getting a frog and I wanted to know if I could keep a Green Tree Frog in the same terrarium as a red eyed tree frog. Will they get along? Will they become good friends? Will they fight? Any info you can provide would be great!!
In this case, it's probably not a good idea. I'm all for multi-species setups, but in this case they species require too different of habitats. A green tree frog could very well survive in the high levels of humidity and light needed by the red-eye, but it most likely would not thrive, nor be in it's ideal habitat. A good companion for the red-eye would be an albino red-eye. They are more expensive and relatively hard to find, but pretty awesome. I've found that green tree frogs and anoles get along very well. They have similar environmental needs, and are almost completely unconcerned with the other, which makes them good companion species. If you do choose to house two frogs together, keep them similar in size and keep them well fed; this seems to lessen aggression and cannibalism.
