Is Men In Black Disney now?
I remember when MIB first came out it had a marvel logo on it. But people said it didn't really count as a Marvel movie because they had either only recently acquired the rights to MIB, or that they only owned a small percentage of the rights or something like that. In any case people say MIB is not really considered a Marvel movie. But I'm pretty sure Marvel has at least something to do with MIB. So my question is, now that Disney owns Marvel, how much of of MIB do they own? If there is a third MIB movie, will Disney have to green light it?
When Marvel has a movie done with one of their licensed properties, Marvel never does this themselves. What Marvel does is sell the rights for some one else to make it for them, and that was Columbia Tristar, Amblin and one other owns the movie rights to MIB and MIB2.
Who makes a 3rd one will depend on what lawyers say in the matter of this. Marvel being the originator of the comics having signed a deal with Columbia and Amblin for the first 2, may opt being owned now by Marvel to have Disney make a 3rd only if the agreement with Columbia and Amblin has expired.
