My thoughts are that it was Plotinus. Any other possibilities (besides Plato the obvious)?
This is an excellent question, but it leaves much for the answerer to "fill in." Most importantly, what "counts" as a philosopher? If you consider Jesus Christ (historically a factual person, but theologically debated as the "son of God") as a philosopher, then you MUST put him prior to ANY other choice.
Though it would be interesting for someone to explain a rationale for excluding him as a philosopher since he surely puts forth a metaphysical, ontological, and ethical belief system.
