How can you retrieve a scared family cat,(declawed) out of a gopher hole with many tunnels?
She is an indoor cat who has never been outside. Family looked everywhere. She was missing over a week. The husband happened to look into the woods one day, saw her and she took off. Could not find her. Just happened to see her later run into a gopher hole. Cages set up with food, but she's too scared to come out. It is a calico cat, well kept, and groomed.
The humane traps with food is a good idea, but there's no garuntee you'll catch the cat. Carefull about catching racoons or other small wild animals. If she has a toy she played with, try leaving that hanging in a cage or something. Or even a blanket or something. She may recognize the smell and want to lay in it.
If this doesn't work, try calling her. She's probably scared, but stay calm and don't chase her or anything.
