Genetically Engineered H1N1?
I love conspiracy theories. Generally they aren't quite as wild as the truth, but they can get "out there" from time to time. So, could we be looking at something more sinister in the current swine flu pandemic? <!--more-->

There are some who believe that the government is caught with their hands in the proverbial cookie jar.
Documents from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine at New York University have some interesting studies that have been going on in years past as related to H1N1. At minimum it appears that the government knew about this strain and saw it coming MANY years ago.
That we have a pandemic on our hands is known.
We're not yet in a panic mode here in America; however, Russia is a hot battle ground. As an example, urging its citizens not to panic, Ukraine on Monday closed the nation's schools for a week to avoid the spread of swine flu and suggested that nightclubs, cinemas and food markets in the west also shut down.

Ukraine's Health Ministry said Monday that 70 people in the nation of 40 million have died of flu, but did not say how many of those deaths were related to swine flu. Worldwide, outbreaks of regular seasonal flu claim 50,000 lives each year. Nevertheless, all schools have been closed for a week across Ukraine, even in the capital, Kiev, where there have been no confirmed cases of swine flu.
Here on this side of the pond, school nurses mistakenly gave the swine flu vaccine to two students who didn't sign up for it - including a Brooklyn girl with epilepsy who wound up in the hospital. "I was outraged," Naomi Troy, 26, told the Daily News after her 6-year-old daughter, Nikiyah Torres-Pierre, had a possible allergic reaction to the shot.
In yet another local example, officials admitted on Friday that a third student was mistakenly given the swine flu vaccine - an error the school nurses union blamed on the city. "Nurses are not getting the support they need," said Judith Arroyo, president of Local 436, District Council 37, adding that the union had warned of problems.
"We don't like it when we're right, because usually when we're right someone does get hurt somewhere along the way."
Ah, everyone has an opinion, but does anyone have the truth?

Why can,t I make lean work in a union shop ?
I work for United Airlines, we are trying to implement the lean process to aircraft maintenance. We have very little involvement or cooperation. We made the initial changes about a year and ahalf ago. We are about to start the next phase. Remember this is a union shop. We have no commitment for the company other then job security. Yet the company is trying to sell the jet engine overhaul facility, so much for job security.
the techs are required to perform the required maintenance in accordance with the repair manuals.
this may seem trite, but these guys dont do anything outside the manuals. If there are operations manuals that show how the work and material flows through the shop, then start there.
work in re-writing the acceptance criteria, that is more time dependent. Performance is based on getting the job done...if you cant improve individual performance, then reduce the number of individuals.
Im sure labor negotiations are all about how many men it takes to move materials and work through the shop. start reaasigning men to useless tasks that are targeted for deletion in future operations and then eliminate those tasks.
Oh, you can also start doing other things that are not union related. like Can-Ban inventory management. there is more to lean than just people
