what is a good motherboard for building a DVD library ?
i'm going to build a PC from bare-bones for use with my projector for a home theater system and Wii
would like some second opinions on which would be the best low cost motherboard and video card to start with have some ideas just wondering if any one has maybe a better idea for around 350.00 for just those two parts with out factoring in the cost of power,cooler,or hard drives thanks for any ideas
Well, Gigabyte motherboards are known for their durability because they use solid capacitors which don't leak... Going with one of those, a Core 2 Duo E2200 and Radeon 2600XT seems like a great low-cost start. Or you could spend more on the graphics card and get a Radeon 3870. While Nvidia's competing cards- the 8600GT and 8800GT are slightly faster for 3D gaming, ATI's cards handle HD playback better.
Since you're building this machine strictly for home theater, you don't need more expensive motherboard features like support for 45nm CPUs, SLI or Crossfire, additional DIMM slots etc. In the video card realm, the less-expensive 2600XT should be fine.
