Diecast Car
The simple joys of Matchbox cars
Its appearance
The year was 1953, and the British Toy Company Lesney Products came out with the first Matchbox car appeal. Then he saw one of their biggest sales - a model of the Queen's Coronation Coach. This led the company to begin producing other scaled-down versions of different vehicles - cars, dump trucks, mixers, etc.. It is always important that they meet this requirement special size - that fit in a matchbox. Thus, the brand was born. The first models were (naturally) all British vehicles, and they very primitive - not inside the doors do not open, and we were in generally a piece of metal.
Growth
In the late 60s, cars Matchbox had really taken its peak. However, there were many models, and became quite articulate - doors that opened, and so on. This is also the extension of lines to include models of yesteryear - the supply of vehicles long. In addition, the accessories were added - petrol or service stations, garages, etc.
Trials Competition
Of course, imitation breeds success. The U.S. company Mattel came out with its Hot Wheels line, and quickly took on the U.S. market. Well, Matchbox not have to lie. They responded by creating its Superfast line, these were new, the most elegant cars, and adding other lines. Soon, there were Matchbox planes, trains and ships. Its success has led to even new lines - Battle Reyes (military type) Sea King (different ships), the online science fiction adventure series 2000 and the two packs. However, these lines have been less successful, and only two package and Sky Busters (airplanes) continued for a long period.
Death and Rebirth
The 1970s saw hard times Matchbox, and other British toy manufacturers. Eventually, Lesney was forced into bankruptcy in June 1982. The Matchbox brand then sort of drift for a time, from a company front - almost exactly ten years later - Tyco Toys bought in May 1992. Then, in a truly ironic turn, Mattel Matchbox acquired in 1997. To say that Matchbox loyal fans / collectors were concerned would be an understatement. After all, the Hot Wheels / Matchbox rivalry had been raging for years. Would Mattel simply kill the line, to renew to be such as Hot Wheels or remain true to its roots?
Initially, Mattel Matchbox cars not to renew. In 2003 they released Ultra Heroes line, which been a complete disaster! They were suspended a year later, the company decided to try another contact. A new team dedicated the preservation of classic cars, began producing realistic looking models with a high degree of detail. Change an important classic Matchbox cars was that these were based largely on vehicles of the United States. Today, the line has increased nearly a hundred models, and show no signs of abating. The children - boys and girls - continue to enjoy playing with them, and there are more than a few adults who also collects happy.

Can someone please explain the differences between diecast car sizes? I shop online & they all look the same?
My father is always doing everything for everyone else, so I decided to start a collection of Dale Earnhardt diecast cars for him. Since I shop on line I don't know the difference between 1:24, 1:32, or 1:18. Could some please explain.... Also if the discription of the car says "1 of 300" does that mean it's in higher value?
Thanks for everything!
Amy
1:24 means the scale size if you took that little car it would be 24 times the size to be the real one. The higher the scale 1:32 the smaller the car. 1:32 is the little Hot wheel size 1 :18 are real big like hold in both hand size. The most popular for collectors are the 1 : 24 size. Also if it says its 1 of a paticular number thats how many are made if its a small number it is usually gonna be worth more because there arn't very many. Hope this helps.
