Top 10 Nfl Coaches on the Hot Seat

10. Norv Turner

I usually would not list a first year coach on the hot seat however there are so many expectation for San Diego and Norv has a questionable track record. If by any chance SD had a bad year, failed to make the playoffs – it’s possible SD would realize they made a mistake and dump Turner. Not likely though.

9. Mike Shanahan

Shanahan is one of the best coaches in the NFL but the Broncos have underachieved for a long time and if a bad year here – Denver might finally say that change is needed.

8. Lovie Smith

I think the Bears made it no secret that the pressure is on Smith to deliver or else. Not that the defensive coordinator is gone – a bad year and the blame will be put on Smith and that new contract he signed.

7. Joe Gibbs

Another year of missing the playoffs and Snyder may send Gibbs back to Nascar. Eventually they will say what have you done for me lately?

6. Brian Billick

Billick known to be an offensive genius has had a lot of time and management has shown him a lot of faith. Missing the playoffs this year would be viewed as disaster and the Ravens would be forced to make a change.

5. John Fox

John Fox has done a tremendous job with the Panthers but the honeymoon will be over if they fail to make the playoffs again and underachieve again in 2007.

4. Jon Gruden

Gruden has been living on his reputation of delivering a Super Bowl to Tampa. The last few years some have called for his head. Another bad season and they will get their wish!

3. Jack Del Rio

Del Rio has had the Jaguars right there in the mix year after year but the Jaguars will lose patience if they miss the playoffs this year. Some have publicly stated they don’t like how he has dealt with the quarterbacks and only the playoffs will keep him in Jacksonville another year.

2. Herm Edwards

The Chiefs gave up a lot to get Edwards from the Jets and the Chiefs management has always been loyal to the guys they like and Edwards is definitely one of them however finishing last in the division behind Oakland could change this quickly. It’s win or else for Herm.

1. Tom Coughlin

The biggest lame duck coach in the history of the NFL. No one expected Coughlin to return this year but they could not replace him with anyone better. Everyone knows they will make a run at Cowher or even Parcells. I don’t think Coughlin survives and come back another year with anything less than two playoff wins which he will never get. I bet it’s a 75% chance minimum that Coughlin is gone after this season.
