I want to run my diesel car on straight used chip fat, what modifications should I make?
I've heard that, since modern diesel engines are designed to take diesel, putting used chip fat in them can wear out the pumps etc. Is this true?

The diesel engine was designed to run on peanut oil, so can run on well any bio fuel, however what modifications should I make to a modern car to ensure that it runs for a long time on bio fuel?
it depends on the car you're using, for example a conventional injection system (not common rail) using a bosch (or bosch clone) pump will stand cold, neat veg oil, however one using a lucas (or lucas clone) pump requires a preheater. Generally, all common rail engines wont take neat oil at all, they need it to be converted to biodiesel, which isnt really very hard at all. there are always exceptions however. if you're uncertain, any diesel at all will run on biodiesel. if you choose to take the veggie route, you will need to change the fuel filter more often. to check, you can see if your vehicle is listed on www.dieselveg.co.uk and what mods people have made. they also sell heating parts (or give you ideas on how to make cheaper versions yourself)
