3 Tips to Increase the Value of Your Toy Hauler Trade
Do you want to make a toy hauler trade? It is not uncommon for people to buy a small toy hauler, use it for a few years, and then want to trade up for a bigger one. In fact, it happens all the time. Once you start experiencing the fun that RVing can bring, you won't want to stop.
When the time comes to trade in you RV, you can do a few things to increase the trade in value. Every dollar more you can get for your current RV means more money for your next.
Clean the Inside and Out
First impressions count for a lot. Therefore, make the best first impression by giving it a thorough scrubbing. This means more than bathing the outside. You will want to polish any chrome, clean the tires and rims, as well as the windows and mirrors
While that will make the outside look nice, you will want the inside to look its best as well. Again, you need to surpass your regular cleaning and get down into the detail work. Here are the things you will need to do:
- Clean the carpets
- Clean, bleach, & polish the sinks, toilet, and shower
- Clean the beds, including the mattresses
- Thoroughly clean the blinds and shades
- Empty out and clean the drawers and cabinets
- Wash out the refrigerator and freezer
- Dust all appliances, cabinets, and counters, including the entertainment center
Do Minor Repairs
Anything that is broken will reduce the value of your RV. Therefore, go around the vehicle and replace anything you can. This could include:
- Replacing loose hinges
- Installing stops on drawers
- Replacing windshield wipers
- Replacing lost screws
- Fixing damaged or bent blinds and shades
- Replacing light bulbs
- Replacing blown fuses
Air the Trailer Out
It is no secret to RV owners that when it sits awhile, it can get a certain smell. You know the smell of old air. While it does not smell bad, it doesn't smell its best. This dusty old smell can make a bad first impression. Therefore, it is a good idea to air out the trailer before taking it in for trade.
Additionally, spraying an odor absorbing air freshener can help as well. You can choose from any number of odor absorbers to help cut the smell, such as Oust, Febreeze, or Arm and Hammer. This can give your carpets, furniture, and even beds a fresh clean scent that is sure to increase the value.
If you do these three things, you will find your toy hauler trade in pulls in a much better price. It is the little things that make a big difference.
